Rat Belly Colors
These 5-day-old baby rats show the difference in belly color between the Agouti Rex male on the left and the Black EI female
on the right. Agoutis (and Agouti colors such as Fawn, Amber, Silver Fawn, etc.) will have pink bellies and you can’t
see markings until fur comes in where the Blacks show pigment and you can see white markings at this age (this female has a
large English Irish marking on her chest). Also, Agoutis have a very sharp demarcation line between the top color and belly.
